EHS Integration Model and ContinuumThe EHS Integration™ service-bundle represents a combination of other services where we guide an organization to higher levels in our EHS Integration model following our Seven Steps to EHS Integration process

We start with an Initial Consultation as a starting point to begin the EHS Integration™ process.  This is followed by our signature seminar, Breaking Through the Threshold Barrier.  In this seminar, the EHS develops new capacities needed in the Integration Dimension.  The next step is developing a new EHS Framework.

Following the new Framework design, we assist with rolling out the new Framework and introducing the organization to the new EHS context that has been created by entering the Integration Dimension, we call this step Going Public.

Through out this service-bundle, especially at the higher of the Seven Steps, we provide coaching to EHS personnel on an as needed basis.  At the higher steps, sometimes organizations ask us to provide a Management Review-like service to assess integration progress.  In these instances we use our EHS Integration Diagnostic Tool for this assessment.

Initial Consultation

The Initial Consultation service includes one to three days on-site meeting with personnel, reviewing documents, leading an introductory session on our EHS Integration™ approach, and performing an initial diagnosis of the EHS Function.   We use our EHS Integration™ diagnostic tool to provide input on the maturity of programs and systems.

We provide copies of key publications and models as well as a summary report with observations and recommendations.

At the conclusion of this service clients:

    • Have a very good understanding condition and status of their EHS Functions.
    • See ways to move forward in areas that have been challenging.
    • Have an action plan on how to move to higher levels in the Integration Dimension.

Seminar – Breaking Through the Threshold Barrier

7 Steps to EHS Integration

This three-day seminar is a signature piece of the Seven Steps to EHS Integration.

Here we address the first three steps of Understanding,
Shifting the EHS Mindset, and New Leadership Capacities.

The seminar is broken into five sections.

  • Stop, pause, and reflect.  The focus is on an inquiry to look at what’s really going on!  Some call this examining the current reality.  This takes most of the first day of the seminar.
  • Examine aspirations and vision.  Look at why we do what we do as EHS professionals.  Look at how we relate to our aspirations and visions.  Get in touch with what we care about.
  • Generate a vision, individually and as a collective.  With the understanding and insights from revealing the current reality and learning about the mechanisms of aspiration and vision, and our relationship to them, the condition is set to generate a new vision.
  • Assemble a tool box of skills needed to fulfill the vision.  Examine how a collective develops new capacities.
  • Create a project and something at stake.  Get on the court practicing, you could say “use it or lose it”  On the afternoon of the third day, projects are created to take the EHS Functions into the Integration Dimension.

Prior to the seminar we conduct interviews with participants to begin the introduction to new distinctions and gain an understanding of current conditions and aspirations.

At the end of the seminar, you can expect to have:

  • A new perspective on what it is to be an EHS professional
  • A clear understanding of --- and the skills on --- how to integrate your EHS Function deeper into the organizational fabric.
  • Methods on how to generate a vision
  • Deepened leadership skills
  • A meaningful project that will pull you forward in using the seminar’s tools.

EHS Framework Architecture Design

With the work done in the Breakthrough Seminar, the EHS team will want to examine the existing EHS structures, mainly the policies and procedures.  It is predicable that work will be needed to update these structures to be consistent with what has been generated in the seminar.

We assist you in developing this new Framework.  Some of the actions include:

  • cleaning up of existing policies and procedures;
  • develop a management-system based backbone for the EHS Function;
  • focus on strengthening policies and procedures that are central to EHS Integration.

New Architecture Roll Out

The new architecture roll out resembles traditional implementation steps, but has a different quality in the Integration Dimension. With the work done to this point, things like partnerships and accountability have a whole new occurring.  There is a foundation in place for robust collaboration and the development of new innovations.

We assist you in developing and executing your new architecture roll out plan.  Some of the actions include:  developing roll out support materials, “promotional materials”; select pilot site or group; seminars and training sessions; and conducting information sessions.

Sustainment and Mastery Support

With the new architecture in place, we support you with maintaining it using our EHS Integration diagnostic tool and a combination of structured meetings and les structured coaching.  We assist with the development of case studies and write ups for publication if requested.

The structured meetings/seminars and less structured coaching reinforce concepts from the Breaking Through the Threshold Barrier seminar as well as further skill development in resolving breakdowns.
